#RedSox Game Summary (April 21) Out of Bullets in Baltimore

#RedSox Game Summary (April 21) Out of bullets in Baltimore. The Red Sox seemed baffled by Dylan Bundy, and although they did manage 6 hits off the Orioles starter, no one crossed the plate. The Baltimore bullpen made sure it stayed that way. This ruined a decent start for Drew Pomeranz, who went 5 1/3rd innings, giving up just 5 hits, but 2 runs, including a solo home run by Manny Machado. The other extra base hit off Pomeranz was a Craig Gentry double. He scored on an Adam Jones single. A disturbing incident took place in the 8th inning, when Mark Trumbo hit into a fielder’s choice, as Manny Machado was out at second. The issue was that Machado overslid the bag, spikes high, seemingly in clear violation of the new rule prohibiting slides designed to take out the pivot man in a possible double play where the runner’s slide goes beyond the attempt to reach 2nd safely. In fact, Machado spiked Dustin Pedroia, who had to leave the game. No word yet on whether he will have to go on the DL. Third base coach Brian Butterfield was so incensed that his complaints about the situation to third base umpire Alan Porter earned him an early exit from the game. Dirty business. Baltimore beat Boston, 2-0, at Orioles Park at Camden Yards. Record: 10-7. Game 17/145.#R
