#RedSox Game Summary (May 27) Johnson waxed. In his third major league start, Brian Johnson pitched a 5 hit complete game shutout of the Seattle Mariners. He was aided in this effort by three spectacular catches in center field by Jackie Bradley, Jr.; two in the 9th inning. The Sox got all the runs they would need in the very first inning when Seattle starter Rob Whalen walked Mookie Betts, who stole 2nd and scored on a Xander Bogaerts single. Xander subpsequently scored on a hit by Andrew Benintendi. Benintendi reached 2nd on a HBP, 3rd on a fly out, and scored on a hit by Sandy Leon to make the score 3-0. JBJ swatted a 2 run dinger in the 6th, and in the 8th, Mitch Moreland drove in Hanley Ramirez for the 6th Boston run. Johnson, who does not throw all that hard, was locating the ball very well. He threw 109 pitches, 85 for strikes, and he punched out 8; an excellent start to his major league career. The Red Sox have now won 6 in a row. How do you like them now?
